Protest Following Racist Attack at Leyton Mosque

Around 100 people gathered on Tuesday to show their support for the Noor Ul Islam Mosque in Leyton following a racist attack by a man the previous week. Christian and Jewish faith leaders attended, alongside representatives from a range of left-wing, Green, and socialist organisations.

The new Green leader of Waltham Forest Council, Paul Perkins, inset was present. However, Labour MP Calvin Bailey and neighbouring MP Stella Creasy were notably absent.

While millions struggle with the cost of living, public services are stretched to breaking point and too many people can’t afford a decent home, the government is choosing to spend billions more on the machinery of war.

The Defense Investment Plan would see military spending rise to almost £80 billion a year by 2029.

Britain doesn’t need another arms race. It needs investment in people.

Restore Britain and Pink Ladies have called a picket outside the Newham Mayor’s Office on Tuesday 7 July. We must decisively defeat the far right when they attempt to mobilise.

The session will be interactive, inclusive and grounded in real life scenarios relevant to our community.

We are a coalition of community groups who have come together to support progressive candidates for the May 7th council elections in Waltham Forest.

The idea for this coalition started in early 2025, with local groups coming together to talk about how we might support each other’s campaigns and put pressure on the council to deliver a fairer borough.
